We have, the last couple of months, experienced a significant growth in investors due to our performance measured over the last +12 months. The other day, Mads sent a mail around in the team with an interesting observation about investor patterns, that I want to share with you;
I went straight to see who this single investor was and what other bids this investor has made! Hmmm, not much information on their MYC4 profile… but browsing through some of their other public bids, I found ‘comments’ that lead me to their corporate site. It is a Danish IT company that have a couple of ’causes’ they are supporting – here is what they say about MYC4:
“Botanoo.com takes 2% of the annual turnover and invest in projects offered through MYC4.com. This way we can change the lives for African entrepreneurs, who have the willpower to lift themselves out of poverty.”
Seen with MYC4 glasses, there are two important key take aways in the above:
1) This was exactly how Mads and I dreamt MYC4 from the beginning; an online platform that sources capital to African businesses where a loan would be funded by institutional investors along side with small scale private investors – as well one loan being funded by 1 investor and another loan being funded by thousands of investors (this will come!). Diversity!!
2) That companies starts investing small proportions of their turnover via MYC4 (business must be for a profit, but profit must be for a purpose) perhaps in the industry that they are active in themselves.
Are they other companies/organizations out there that are doing the same, as just described above, please let me know….
GREATings from a rainy (actually snowy!!) Copenhagen…. hmmmm, so much for the signs of Spring we had the other day!!
